I have stuff, and some of it is on my desk.
This particular bit of comic book ephemera has been lurking around my home work station for about 15 years or so. I remember buying this guy three apartments ago from a now defunct toy store chain and he originally perched (see what I did there?) on a drawing table I haven’t had in years. So yeah, he’s been around awhile.
For those not in the know, this is Hawkman, a DC Comics character who first appeared in the 1940s. His back story has changed a lot over the years. Originally he was a reincarnated Egyptian prince, then he was a police officer from the planet Thanagar, and I think he briefly stood in for Big Bird on Sesame Street during a contract dispute. Basically he’s had more reboots than that piece of crap Packard Bell computer I had around 1993.
This particular version of the character seems to have a Native American feel to it, and to confuse the matter further he’s got throwing stars strapped to his arm. Most importantly, though, he is one of the few super heroes out there who wears his muscle tissue on the outside of his pants.
